The MBT Type Tandem Switch was developed for operation in substations with voltages of 15, 27, and 38 kV, and currents ranging from 630 to 3150 A.
These switches are used in installations where periodic inspection and maintenance are required without interrupting the power supply.
They are primarily constructed on hot-dip galvanized steel U-profile beams.
The insulators used are of the gray vitrified porcelain pillar type.
The blades are made of high-conductivity electrolytic copper and are arranged in parallel, providing much greater mechanical resistance to high short-circuit currents.
The contacts are of the high-pressure self-cleaning type, equipped with stainless steel springs and safety locking devices.
The terminals are made of copper alloy with a tinned finish and follow the NEMA drilling pattern.
The design complies with ABNT / ANSI / IEC standards.
